Boston, MA — April 7, 2010 — The National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership (NCMLP) announced its 2010-2011 Medical Advisory Board today. The Board was formed to cultivate richer healthcare involvement in medical-legal partnership (MLP) and support current and future physicians and healthcare leaders in a broad range of clinical settings.

“We’ve seen how bringing attorneys into the healthcare team helps vulnerable patients meet their basic needs and helps healthcare professionals recognize the links between basic needs and health” said Megan Sandel, MD, MPH, Medical Director of NCMLP. “Cultivating strong healthcare leaders and leveraging their work to change how healthcare is delivered to vulnerable populations is an important goal of the National Center. We are fortunate to have such an experienced and diverse group of healthcare leaders paving the way for new innovations in MLP.”

Eighteen Board members were recruited from MLPs nationwide for their commitment to advocating for vulnerable populations. Board members embody a full range of clinical perspectives from medicine, nursing, social work and public health and represent pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, oncology and geriatrics.
