Dr. David Keller and Dr. Shale Wong have been selected as two of ten Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellows for 2009–2010. Fellows utilize their wide range of academic, public health, clinical and community-based experience to provide health policy leadership on Capitol Hill to improve health and health care during a 12-month fellowship in Washington, D.C.

David M. Keller, M.D., FAAP, credits the [Healthy Tomorrows] grant with giving his program — Family Advocates of Central Massachusetts — stability during its early years. The program links pediatric practices affiliated with the University of Massachusetts medical school and attorneys to help patients and their families deal with legal matters. Issues include helping needy families obtain food stamps, domestic violence, special education
concerns and making sure landlords keep apartments mold-free.

A memorandum of understanding between Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts, University of Massachusetts Medical School and the UMASS Department of Pediatrics formally establishing their medical-legal partnership. The MOU delineates their perspective roles, and outlines how restricted information will be shared.
MOUs are optional and will depend upon the needs of the individual partner institutions.

This questionnaire can also be used in formative evaluation, providing a means for quickly assessing the legal needs present in a particular setting (community or medical clinic) in which the creation of a new medical-legal partnership is planned.
