Re-entry Community
Re-entry population refers to individuals who have been released from prison or halfway houses and "re-enter" the community where they live. Often this population is particularly vulnerable to being cut off from insurance, suffer from mental illness disproportionately to their other adult counterparts, and can have serious medical conditions that were ignored while they were incarcerated. Substance abuse is also more common, and therefore this population is particularly high risk for social issues interfering with their health.
If it wasn’t for the program, there would have been a couple times where I would have given up. But with the help of the program I learned a lot. I learned to be my own advocate and to know what I can do and how to go about it.
