Oncology

Oncology is the care of patients with cancer and is practiced after completing a fellowship in oncology.  It is generally separated into four major areas:

  • Medical oncology
  • Radiation oncology
  • Surgical oncology
  • Supportive/palliative care.
Depending on the area where the fellowship is completed, the practitioner may come from internal medicine, surgery, anesthesiology or psychiatry.
