Medical-Legal Partnership Casebook

Liz Tobin-Tyler, Esq. from Roger Williams University School of Law and the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership are editing a book entitled Poverty, Health and Law: Readings and Cases for Medical-Legal Partnership. The book will be published by Carolina Academic Press and will be the first comprehensive text to address the connections between law and the social determinants of health and medical-legal advocacy strategies.

It is our hope that the book will be a useful tool for both educators and practitioners (in medicine, law, social work, nursing and public health programs). The book will cover substantive issues as well as present advocacy strategies, best practices and cases that can be used for teaching and training. Each chapter will be co-authored by at least one MD and JD, and also, for some chapters, by other disciplinary partners, such as an MPH.

Call for Contributions!

We are looking for contributions from the MLP Network.  Please review the Table of Contents and identify areas where your medical-legal partnership has case examples, best practices and innovations.   If you’d like to feature your MLP in the casebook, please e-mail Leanne.Ta@bmc.org a paragraph description and note the casebook chapter related to your example.
